DBCO (dibenzo octyl) PEG ACRL (DBCO-PEG-ACRL) derivatives can conduct click-through chemical reaction without any metal catalyst. It can promote the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of cyclooctene and azide, also known as copper-free click reaction, which is a biological orthogonal reaction that can make two molecules conjugate in aqueous solution. DBCO-PEG derivatives have fast kinetics and stability in water buffer. DBCO reagent can be used to label azide modified biomolecules spontaneously without toxic copper catalyst. Polyethylene glycol can increase the solubility and stability of peptides and proteins, and reduce their immunogenicity. It can also inhibit the non-specific binding of charged molecules to the modified surface.
