1).?in order that / so (that)引導(dǎo)目的狀語(yǔ)從句，翻譯成“以便，為了”；

He studied hard?in order that?he could pass the exam.

I will pass the test?in order that?I can travel abroad.

Please speak slowly?so (that)?they can understand you.

Bring it closer?so (that)?I might see it better.


2).?in case / for fear that引導(dǎo)的目的狀語(yǔ)從句；

in case的意思是“以防，萬(wàn)一”，for fear that的意思是“生怕，唯恐”；

You should have a talk with your mother?in case?she worries about you.

Write the telephone number down?in case?you forget it.

He left an hour early?for fear that?he might miss the train.

He wrote the name down?for fear that?he should forget it.


3).?目的狀語(yǔ)從句與in order to / so as to引導(dǎo)的動(dòng)詞不定式之間的轉(zhuǎn)換；

實(shí)際上，in order to / so as to是in order that / so that的簡(jiǎn)化版，將that從句簡(jiǎn)化成不定式短語(yǔ)。

He got up early?so that?he could catch the early bus.

= He got up early?so as to?catch the early bus.

He came in quietly?in order that?he shouldn't(不會(huì)) wake his wife.

= He came in quietly?in order not to?wake his wife.


★★ 注意：so that 引導(dǎo)的目的狀語(yǔ)從句與結(jié)果狀語(yǔ)從句的區(qū)別：

在目的狀語(yǔ)從句中，謂語(yǔ)常含有should, will, would, may, might, can, could等情態(tài)動(dòng)詞；

在結(jié)果狀語(yǔ)從句中，一般不含情態(tài)動(dòng)詞；

I always read so carefully that I?can make?everyone understand me. (目的狀從)
